Outdoor eating and drinking gear

Everything for eating and drinking outdoors: water bottles, vacuum flasks, mugs and tumblers, camping cutlery, food containers, coffee makers and cool boxes. Nearly all the drinkware is double-walled. Yeti and Stanley supply most of it, alongside Klean Kanteen and Le Creuset.

How do you choose the right outdoor eating and drinking gear?

Start with what needs to go in it and how long it needs to stay at temperature.

  • Drinks for the road: a water bottle, or a thermos flask if you want your coffee to still be hot in the afternoon.
  • Drinking from the hand: a mug or tumbler. With a handle by the fire, without one in the cup holder.
  • Food: a food container for soup and stew, and outdoor cutlery to eat it with.
  • Keeping things cold: a cool box for the car, a cool bag if it needs to stay light.
  • Making coffee without a socket: a coffee maker, french press or pour-over.

The drinkware here is almost all double-walled stainless steel. It weighs more than plastic, but it survives a fall onto a rock and it does not take on flavours. Yeti and Stanley make up most of the range, with Le Creuset and Tatonka alongside.

Lids and caps wear out faster than the bottle or mug underneath. You can buy them separately in the accessories, so a worn lid is no reason to throw the rest away.
